Irina Petrova is a Bristol based independent researcher and scholar and award winning photographer, artist and sculptor. Irina participates in FUNGAR and FUNGATERIA projects. She specialises in 3D modelling of fungal mycelian networks and fruit bodies, physical modelling of biological wearables, analysis of science apprehension via arts, wildlife microphotography and science fiction inspired installations organically integrating living and artificial entities. Her unique feature is that she uses only retro manual focus lenses to share wonders of the world. She won a substantial number of awards and prizes, most recent include 5 awards in MIFA 2020, winner in an international photo contest FotoRoomOPEN | ACN edition for women photographers in the Single Images category, 3rd Chania International Photo Festival 2020, FAPA 2020 WildLife/Animals, TIFA 2019, Chromatic Awards in Wildlife and Animals, ND Nature Discovery of the Year 2019, SONY European photo contest “Bugs” in 2019. She is also a winner of 2019 “American Horror Week” illustration contest by The American Cultural Centre in Russia. She is a member of the International Federation of New Media and the Russian Union of Wildlife Photographers.
